Although blockchain technology has been widely discussed in many areas, the direction of research and evidence related to smart tourism is still unclear to reflect this latest network-based technology. To reduce this gap, this study attempts to explore recent research publication work regarding the blockchain context in the tourism management literature in the Scopus database. Using a scoping review approach suggested by Arksey and O'Malley, the result until May 2021 revealed only eleven (11) papers published in the database. This scoping review aimed to provide a map of the research development, the routes of research concern topics, and some potential research opportunities. The results indicated that there were many conceptual documents versus empirical documents, particularly in the tourism management field, and that they were still in the early stages of the publication trend. The results of the analysis of these data were highlighted and discussed.
