Interest, Motivation and Career Adaptability Among Bachelor of Food Service Technology Students Regarding Career Selection

A career that suits one's interests and motivation is a factor in a student's career choice, if chosen through the individual's own interests and personality tendencies that enable a person to be able to face various situations in the world of work. Therefore, this study aims to examine the level of interest, level of motivation and career adaptability towards career choice among Bachelor of Food Service Technology students at University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) at the Faculty of Technical and Vocational Education (FPTV). This study is a survey that uses a quantitative approach and is analyzed descriptively. Questionnaire instruments were distributed to respondents and analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 26.0 to obtain the mean value, standard deviation, and frequency. Overall. The results show that the overall mean score level is high which is 4.18. Meanwhile, the mean results from the aspects of interest (4.12), motivation (4.27) and career adaptability (4.16). In addition, the research findings also show that Bachelor of Food Service Technology students choose careers according to their own interests and motivations. It is hoped that this finding can be an incentive for students in choosing a career as well as produce quality human capital in the field of food service.
