Effect of Integration Communication on Organizational Performance of Public Universities in Western Region Kenya

Integration communication is seamless coordination and alignment of communication efforts across various channels, departments, and levels within an organization. Despite the acknowledgement of the universities in the economy, the public universities experience a lot of challenges. For instance, there was the issue of missing marks by students, lack of adequate funding on their projects and infrastructures, which really affected the operation and financial performance of the institutions. Universities in Kenya had poor integration communication due failed respond to swiftly address problems facing students’ academic challenges. The goal of this study was investigate the effect of integration communication on organizational performance of Public Universities in Western Region Kenya. This study adopted an explanatory design. The target population of this study consisted of 186 employees from the 3 public universities in the Western Region of Kenya. This comprised 36 procurement staff, 72 finance staff, 54 ICT staff, and 24 audit staff. This study adopted census method where all the respondents were included in the study. The questionnaires were used in data collection. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to anlyze the data with the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) frequencies, percentages, mean and standard deviation are all included in descriptive statistics. Regression analysis and inferential correlations were used to determine the change in the dependent variable caused by the independent variables. Tables were used to present the analyzed data. Results showed that Integration Communication has a positive and significant effect on organizational performance (?=0.222, p<0.05). Basing on the results the null hypothesis is rejected suggesting that integration communication had a significant positive effect on organizational performance. In conclusion, communication integration in supply chain plays a role in the growth and competitiveness of the university. The study recommends that the public universities in the Western Region of Kenya should recognize the critical role of integration communication in organizational performance.
