This paper aims to analyze Anne Bradstreet's Contemplations to understand how the pagan idea of a male sun-like god was kept alive through the puritan theology. Applying the concept of political consciousness delineated by Salvador Sandoval it is possible to understand how this idea was applied to keep a structure of beliefs throughout the centuries in order to maintain the status quo. It is possible to conclude that Bradstreet's beliefs and works were shaped by this religious concept.
