The nature of governance in any given political system is determined by the quality of leadership in power. Nigeria, a nation endowed with natural and human resources still battles with crisis of leadership and governance after fifty-one years of independence. This paper discussed the causes of governance crisis and the crisis of leadership in Nigeria. The data used for the paper was sourced from secondary method of data collection. The paper concluded that transformational leadership is required for good governance in Nigeria
