The present paper provides an account of the practices employed by principals in primary education concerning their cooperation with the school staff and specifically with the teachers, in order to deal with daily professional demands. To conduct the study the research method of semi-structured interviews was employed, while, in order to interpret the results, Bourdieu’s theory was applied. Our findings have indicated a tendency towards the use of centralized and highly authoritarian practices by primary school principals in the Greek context.
