Medical tourism has become a vital global industry, with millions of patients traveling across borders annually to access high-quality healthcare services at competitive prices. As countries worldwide aim to capitalize on this expanding trend, Saudi Arabia is positioning itself as a key player in the sector, leveraging its advanced healthcare infrastructure, world-class medical facilities, and strategic vision under Vision 2030. This paper provides a comprehensive review of Saudi Arabia’s current medical tourism landscape, highlighting its strengths, including a modern healthcare infrastructure and government-backed initiatives. It also addresses the challenges the Kingdom faces, including gaps in market perception, cultural barriers, and the need for improved regulatory frameworks and service quality. The study outlines strategic directions to boost Saudi Arabia’s competitiveness in the medical tourism market. Key initiatives include targeted marketing and branding efforts to enhance the Kingdom’s global recognition, the integration of smart technologies to improve healthcare delivery, and alignment with Vision 2030 to foster sector growth. Additionally, the paper stresses the importance of improving patient experience and healthcare infrastructure to meet international standards. By addressing these challenges and capitalizing on emerging opportunities, Saudi Arabia can establish itself as a premier destination for medical tourism, providing specialized treatments, advanced technologies, and a patient-centered approach to care.
